"I was trying to say that, really, a man and a woman can't understand each other because we are a man and a woman. And if we could actually swap each other's roles, if we could actually be in each other's place for a while, I think we'd both be very surprised! [Laughs] And I think it would lead to a greater understanding. And really the only way I could think it could be done was either... you know, I thought a deal with the devil, you know. And I thought, 'well, no, why not a deal with God!' You know, because in a way it's so much more powerful the whole idea of asking God to make a deal with you. You see, for me it is still called "Deal With God", that was its title. But we were told that if we kept this title that it would not be played in any of the religious countries, Italy wouldn't play it, France wouldn't play it, and Australia wouldn't play it! Ireland wouldn't play it, and that generally we might get it blacked purely because it had God in the title."-- Kate Bush, interview with Richard Skinner, 26 January 1992 |
It doesn't hurt me And if I only could You don't want to hurt me Is there so much hate for the ones we love? And if I only could You |
Oh come on, baby And if I only could Say, if I only could So if I only could Say, if I only could |
It's in the trees When I was a child Hiding in the dark Now hounds of love are hunting Here I go
Take my shoes off I found a fox His little heart From nothing real Among your hounds of love Oh here I go |
They look down I'm looking at the big sky That cloud, that cloud 'Cause its changing in the big sky This cloud, this cloud
Were leaving with the big sky Were looking at the Rolling over like a great big cloud |
She knows that I've been doing something wrong Mother stands for comfort It breaks the cage, and fear escapes and takes possession Mother stands for comfort Mother stands for comfort |
I still dream of Orgonon You're like my yo-yo But every time it rains On top of the world |
I hid my yo-yo 'Cause every time it rains And every time it rains Ooh, just saying it could even make it happen We've been cloudbusting daddy Your son's coming out |
Little light shining Let me be weak, let me sleep and dream of sheep Talking 'bout stupid things |
It's wonderful There's something moving under |
Wake up Listen to me, listen to me, baby! You won't burn (red, red roses) |
Spiritus Sanctus in nomine Poor little thing (red, red roses) Deus et dei domino inferno What is it, child? Bless me, father, bless me father, for I have sinned Help me, listen to me, listen to me, tell me (red, red roses) I question your innocence Get out of the waves! |
You can't hear me You watch the clock You can't hear me |
Can't let you know Don't ignore, don't ignore me You don't hear me come in |
Hello, old lady She says Never, never say goodbye Let me live This moment in time And to your little boy and to your little girl |
Never, never say goodbye She said I put this moment here Can't you see where memories are kept bright? A kiss on the wind and we'll make the land We are of the going water and the gone |
Hello earth With just one hand held up high Peek-a-boo, I get out of my car Hello earth |
Watching storms All you sailors Go to sleep, little earth Tiefer, tiefer Go to sleep little earth |
The light I am falling
D'you know what? I'm falling I'll tell my father |
